Brief : 

Zakat Al-Fitr is compulsory on every Muslim; old or young, male or female, freeman or slave and evidence to that is the hadith reported by Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (prayers and peace of Allah be upon him) enjoined the payment of one Sa' of dates or one Sa' of barley as Zakat-ul-Fitr on every Muslim slave or free, male or female, young or old, and he ordered that it be paid before the people went out to offer the Eid prayer. (One Sa' = 3 Kilograms approx.) Sahih Bukhari
