All the praise is for Allah who is the Creator of all existence and the Most Generous to His creation, while He is also the All-Compelling. He is the only One having the right to be WORSHIPED without associating partners with Him (no sons, no daughters). No one He must consult and nothing is like unto Him or has any comparison with Him. He is The King of all who claim sovereignty. The only One who has the right to legislate for His creatures. He is the Giver of life and the Giver of death, while death has no effect upon Him, because He is the Ever-living the Self- Subsisting. He is the Eternal and the only Absolute. All the praise is for Allah who has Power over all things and there is no power, strength, nor influence to cause benefit or detriment except through Him. Indeed, He is the One who created this complex world (the evident and the speculative, the seen and the unseen) the heavens, the earth, and all that is in between.

It is He who sent His Messengers and Prophets (peace be upon them all) with the common message of strict MONOTHEISM (believing with obedience in the Oneness of the Almighty Creator without partners or associates with
Him).

Refutation of Obfuscation
Dear whoever is reading this book,
Allah the Most Merciful says:

قُلۡ يَـٰٓأَهۡلَ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبِ تَعَالَوۡاْ إِلَىٰ ڪَلِمَةٍ۬ سَوَآءِۭ بَيۡنَنَا وَبَيۡنَكُمۡ أَلَّا نَعۡبُدَ إِلَّا ٱللَّهَ وَلَا نُشۡرِكَ بِهِۦ شَيۡـًٔ۬ا وَلَا يَتَّخِذَ بَعۡضُنَا بَعۡضًا أَرۡبَابً۬ا مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ‌ۚ فَإِن تَوَلَّوۡاْ فَقُولُواْ ٱشۡهَدُواْ بِأَنَّا مُسۡلِمُونَ

“Say, O People of the Scripture (Christians and Jews), come to a word that is equitable between us and you – that we will not worship except Allah and not associate anything with Him and not take one another as lords instead of Allah. But if they turn away, then say, Bear witness that we are Muslims (submitting to Him)” [The Glorious Quran 3:64]

“People of the Scripture” is a respectful title given to the Jews and Christians in the Glorious Quran, and the Muslims here are commanded to invite those people, who claim to be the recipients of Divine Revelation of a Holy Scripture, to gather together onto a common word that we worship none but God Almighty. This is why we have written this book.

Every individual is born into a religious environment that is not in accordance with his/her choice; a child is raised to follow the religion or ideology of his/her family, society or culture. Even as a new-born, he/she is assigned either the religion of his/her family or the ideology of the state; in some countries, the child’s assigned religion is even recorded on his/her birth certificate. By the time individuals reach their teens, they have usually accepted the beliefs of their parents or their particular society, feeling that they have little choice in the matter.

However, individuals often encounter, or are exposed, to various beliefs and ideologies throughout the course of their lives, leading many to question long-held beliefs, traditions or philosophical ideas. They begin to question the validity of their own beliefs. Seekers of truth often reach a point of confusion, especially upon realising that the believers of every religion, sect, ideology and philosophy claim to profess the one and only truth.

A main point of confusion in the minds of the majority of Christians is the relation between the two main two religions: Christianity and Islam.

The bulk of Christians perceive Prophet Muhammad (salla Allâhu ‘alayhi wa sallam – blessings and peace be upon him) and the teachings he brought to be in great conflict with the teachings brought by Jesus (‘alayhi as-salâm – peace be upon him).

This book and its twin Muhammad in the Bible prove to the fair reader that Jesus indicated the advent of Prophet Muhammad, and that the latter revived the teachings brought by the former.

Before we delve into the book, it should be noted that when beginning one’s search the true religion, one should keep the following four things in mind:

Firstly, Allah (subhânahu wa Ta‘âlâ – Glorified and Exalted is He) has given us the ability and the intellect to discover the answer to this crucial question, which is also a lifechanging decision: What is the True Religion?

Secondly, Allah, the Most Compassionate, has not left us to go astray without any guidance. Indeed, He sent us prophets with scriptures to show us the right path.

Thirdly, always remember the underlying reason for this search: the ever-lasting life to come depends upon finding the true religion in this life. This should be your ultimate motivation, and a driving force to keep you searching until you are completely satisfied.

Fourthly, one can only determine the true path and make a rational and correct decision if one willingly puts aside, all the emotions and prejudices, which often blind one to reality.

I would like to thank those respected scholars who gave me the chance to learn and quote extensively from their books, especially Dr. Jamal Badawi, Dr. Bilal Philips, and Brother Muhammad bin Abdullah Caraballo. My small contribution is mainly a compilation of passages from their wonderful works.

Allah (Subhânahu wa Ta‘âlâ – Glorified and Exalted is He) is the Most-Kind, the Most Compassionate. He did not leave people to go astray. Indeed, He sent prophets to tell people who had created them, why they had been created, what is His right on them [being their Lord], what are the rights of human beings towards Him if they obey Him, what are His attributes, how to worship Him, what is the fact behind death, and what is going to happen after death: paradise for those who follow Hismessengers and hell-fire for those who don’t.

Allah, the most-kind and Wise, did not give a chance to the followers of Jesus (‘alayhi as-salâm – peace be upon him) to forever suffer, split and conflict between themselves on the reality of his personality. Indeed, He sent Prophet Muhammad (salla Allâhu ‘alayhi wa sallam – blessings and peace be upon him) to unveil the fact and solve what people perceived as a mystery or a point of great division.

This humble work sheds light on the personality of a great prophet, Prophet Jesus, son of Mary (peace be upon them both). It details his characteristics, and clarifies all the doubts about his personality by clearly referring the reader to specific references in the Bible and other Islamic sources. These have been supported with theoretical and logical proofs which ultimately set Prophet Jesus, in the mind of the fair reader, at the correct level without committing any extremes or deviation.

Before I leave you with the book, I would like to thank all those respected scholars, who gave me a chance to learn and quote extensively from their books, especially Dr. Jamal Badawi, Dr. Bilal Philips, Dr. Ahmed Deedat, Dr. Naji Arfaj and Brother Muhammad bin Abdullah Caraballo. About the word ‘Lord’

The word lord in English has several related meanings. The original meaning is ‘master’ or ‘ruler’ and in this sense it is often used to refer to human beings: ‘the lord of the mansion’ or ‘Lord So-and-So’ (in the United Kingdom, for example). The word Lord with a capital L is used in the lexicon of Islam to refer to the One and Only God – Allah. In Islam, there is no ambiguity about the meaning of this word. While it is true that one may occasionally use the word lord (whether capitalized or not) to refer to a human being, in Islamic discourse the reference of this term is always clear from the context. Whereas for Christians, Hindus and other polytheists, the word Lord with a capital L may refer to Allah, to Jesus or to some imagined deity, for Muslims, there can be no plurality of meaning. Allah alone is the Lord, and the Lord is Allah – not Jesus, not Rama, not any other being.

About the word ‘Allah’

Although the English word ‘God’ has often been used interchangeably in this book with the word Allah, there is a difference. ‘Allah’ is the word in Arabic that is translated as ‘God’. However, ‘Allah’ has a much more precise meaning than ‘God’. ‘Allah’ is not merely an Arabic term for the word ‘god’. Instead, the root word of the word ‘Allah’ is ilâh, which means ‘a god’. There are countless numbers of made-up ‘gods’, but only One True God whose name is Allah. The word ‘Allah’ literally means ‘the worshipped’. Allah is, thus, the proper name for the only Being that is worthy of worship, the True Creator of the universe. By saying ‘Allah’, Muslims are, in essence, negating every other entity which people wrongfully worship. The name ‘Allah’ is how God Almighty has referred to Himself in the Qur’an1, and how Prophet Muhammad (blessings and peace be upon him) also referred to Him. Therefore, in this work, the term ‘Allah’ will often be used in reference to this One and Only God, who is worthy of worship.

1) Who is the Creator?

(40 : 64)

Allah, it is he Who has made for you the earth as a dwelling place and

the sky as a canopy . and has given you shape and made your shapes

good (looking) and has provided you with good things. That is Allah,

your Lord : so Blessed be Allah, the Lord of the Alamin (mankind,

jinn and all that exists).

(39 : 6)

He created you (all) from a single person (Adam) ; then made from

him his wife {Hawwa , (Eve)} . and He has sent down for you of cattle

eight pairs (of the sheep , two , male and female ; of the goats , two ,

male and female of the oxen , two , male and female and of the camels,

two, male and female) . He creates you in the wombs of your mothers :

creation after creation in there veils of darkness. Such is Allah your

Lord His is the Kingdom . La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be

worshipped but He). How then are you turned away ?

(7 : 54)

Indeed your Lord is Allah, Who created the heavens and the earth in

six days, and then He rose over (Istawa) the Throne (really in manner

that suits His Majesty) . He brings the night as a cover over the day,

seeking it rapidly , and (He created) the sun, the moon, the stars

subjected to His Command. Surely, His is the Creation and

Commandment. Blessed is Allah, the Lord of the Alamin (mankind,

jinn and all that exists)!

(10 : 32)

Such is Allah, your Lord in truth. So after the truth, what else can

there be, save error ? How then are you turned away ?

19) What did Allah prepare for those among

the Jews and Christians who believe ?

(57 : 28)

O you who believe (in Musa (moses) (i.e. Jews) and Isa (Jesus) (i.e.

Christians)! Fear Allah, and believe in His Messenger (Muhammad PBUH),

He will give you a double portion of His Mercy, and He will give you a

light by which you shall walk (straight). And He will forgive you. And

Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

22) Was Jesus crucified and died on the

cross ?

(4 : 157 – 158)

157 : And because of their saying (in boast), “We killed Messiah Isa

(Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary), the Messenger of Allah,” – But they

killed him not, nor crucified him, but they resemblance of Isa (Jesus)

was put over another man (and they Killed that man), and those who

differ therein are full of doubts. They have no (certain) knowledge,

they follow nothing but conjecture. For surely; they killed him not (i.e.

Isa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary) .(عليهما السلام

158 : But Allah raised him (Isa (Jesus) up (with his body and soul)

unto Himself (and عليه السلام is in the heavens). And Allah is Ever All-

Powerful All-Wise.

Jesus the Miracle Baby, The Prophet of Allah his Second Coming are amongst many of the issues discussed in this book. As well as prophethood and apostleship, Jesus was honoured with many other great qualities and characteristics. The Quran says, with reference to his honour : ‘Remember when the angels said, ‘Allah is giving you the glad tidings of a word from Him, who’s name shall be Masih, I`sa (Jesus) alayhis salaam, Son of Maryam (Mary), honoured in this world and in the Hereafter and from the rank of those close to Him.’ TMQ 3/45. Imam Ibn Kathir adds, ‘Jesus’ rank was extremely high in this world and also in the hereafter. Jesus was given the Injil (Gospels) and the power to cure the leper and the blind and to bring back to life those who had already died, he was also helped by the angel Gabriel on many occasions.’ All this was part of worldly honour. He was also endowed with great wisdom and knowledge, as the Quran says: ‘And Allah will teach him the book and wisdom and Torah and Injeel (Gospels).’ 3/48. ‘Then Allah says, ‘O Jesus, the Son of Maryam (Mary)! Recount my favour upon you and your mother, when I strengthened you with the angel Gabriel so that you speak to people in childhood and maturity and when I taught you the book and wisdom and Torah and Injeel.’ 5/110. Imam Ibn Kathir(d.774/1352) has said, in explanation of this verse that I’sa (Jesus) was given the talent of writing and that Al Kitab in this verse actually means Al Kitabah, which refers to writing ,as it is a noun in the meaning of its verb, and this would signify that Jesus was not unlettered.

In this brief treatise, the author sets out to clarify Islam’s true position towards Jesus, which is the middle course between two extremes. At one extreme there are those who believe that Jesus is God, the Son of God or part of a divine trinity while on the other extreme there are others who slander him and deny his message.

The correct belief regarding Jesus as confirmed in the Qur’an and Prophet Muhammad’s teachings is that he was no more than a prophet and messenger of God sent with the same message as all the prophets before him such as Moses, Abraham and Noah. That message was to worship God alone and avoid false deities. This is the one true unwavering message of the Creator to His creation throughout the course of time, and it is the same message that Jesus brought to his people and which Muhammad brought to his people after him.

We hope that this short treatise will serve as an invitation to Christians to reflect on the beauty and simplicity of Islam, which has taken a moderate stance towards Jesus, assigning him a lofty role as one of the foremost messengers of God.
