Unwanted: The plight of Myanmar's Rohingya boat
people
Have they not travelled through the earth, and seen
what was the end of those before them? Allah destroyed them
completely, and a similar (fate awaits) the disbelievers.
And indeed, We destroyed generations
before you when they did wrong, while their Messengers came to them with clear
proofs, but they were not such as to believe! Thus do We requite the people who
are Mujrimun (disbelievers, polytheists, sinners, criminals).
Myanmar does not recognize the Rohingya people and has refused to engage in talks where the term is used.
Rohingya Muslims are a long-oppressed linguistic and ethnic minority in Myanmar, a majority Buddhist country. Clashes in 2012 in Myanmar's Rakhine state between Buddhists and Rohingya left hundreds dead and more than 140,000 people homeless.
